From BigLaw to Big Impact:        A Houston Native’s Human-Centric Approach to Legal Search

Bridging the gap between legal expertise and authentic connection, Danielle Kruger leverages her “wisdom from the trenches” to empower candidates and strengthen the Houston legal community.

We are thrilled to feature Danielle Kruger in this month’s spotlight! Since joining Pye Legal Group in 2022, Danielle has become an invaluable asset to our team, bringing a deep level of empathy and expertise to every search.

From the Bench to the Search
Danielle’s approach to recruiting is built on a foundation of nine years of legal practice. Having navigated the halls of BigLaw, served in a strategic in-house legal department, and worked within a small firm, she understands the legal landscape from every angle.

She isn’t just looking at resumes; she is drawing upon her own lived experience to help candidates navigate the complexities of their unique career paths.

Wisdom from the Trenches: Reframing the “Layoff”
Danielle is a firm believer in transparency, a trait she developed through her own professional journey. She often shares a pivotal time in her career when she was unexpectedly laid off from an in-house role.

I felt an overwhelming sense of shame at the time. But years later, I know the truth: a layoff isn’t a stain on your resume. I now wear mine like a badge of honor, marking myself as someone who has navigated that rite of passage and come out stronger on the other side.”

For candidates in today’s market, especially in cyclical industries, Danielle’s advice is simple: No shame, no excuses, just direct info. She reminds us that a company’s impersonal decision to lower overhead does not define your value or your future.

Deep Roots in Houston
A proud native Houstonian, Danielle’s commitment to her city extends well beyond the office. She is an active member of Impact100 Houston, a collective giving organization where she joins other women in pooling resources to award significant grants to local charities. Her dedication to the community is further reflected in her support for the Houston Food Bank, the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, and her children’s schools.

Danielle enjoys exploring Houston’s ever-evolving restaurant scene, practicing reformer Pilates, and testing her green thumb in her garden. She lives in Houston with her husband, who she met at summer camp, and their two sons. Danielle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Emory University and earned her law degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
